Yea, I had a 5k auto fwd, but the thing had mint butter leather. If I ever got another, it would have to have the leather + 5spd manual.

I had an auto fwd wagon and an early 81 fed turbo auto, both with velour. The leather seems to get beat up if not conditioned well (or at least the stitching). I had the same issue with the leather in my 1988 90 quattro so I went to velour in that also. Much nicer in the winter up here when you get in in the morning!
